== Présence extraterrestre == Grâce à un spectre d'émission caractéristique, son éventuelle présence dans l'espace interstellaire est théoriquement repérable. Des indices de présence ont été repérés par des astrophysiciens dans les années 1970, mais ils pourraient aussi résulter d'artéfacts. Sous réserve de confirmation, ce serait la première preuve d'existence de molécules carbonées avec double pont entre atomes de carbone dans l'espace.
